
Courtney Miller, Owner/Attorney at Law
Courtney Miller attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate degree before beginning her studies at St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she graduated at the top of her class receiving her Juris Doctorate. While attending St. Mary’s School of Law, Ms. Miller participated in both external and internal advocacy competitions, excelling in both, finishing in top seats in nearly all. Her legal research and writing experience began as a Staff Writer for Issue 16 of The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Race and Social Issues, eventually getting published in a Medical Encyclopedia on the various legal ramifications, State by State, for transmitting certain medical diseases.
Ms. Miller’s legal experience includes working at the highest criminal court in Texas, the Court of Criminal Appeals, in both the Central Staffing Attorney’s Office and directly for Presiding Judge Sharon Keller. While at the Court, she was able to become intimately familiar with writs, petitions for discretionary review, as well as appeals involving cases where the death penalty was sought. Additionally, Ms. Miller worked in the Criminal Prosecution Division at the Office of the Attorney General of Texas and at the Travis County Attorney’s Office. While at the Attorney General’s Office, Ms. Miller was responsible for researching pertinent legal issues relating to aggravated sexual assault cases, death penalty cases and the removal of sitting District Judges, as well as researching and drafting appeals. While at the Travis County Attorney’s Office, Ms. Miller gained extensive knowledge in criminal cases, including DWI and marijuana cases, as well as trial experience on a near daily basis.
Ms. Miller has since focused all her efforts on defense work and has put her years of experience and knowledge while working with various prosecuting offices to helping her clients by scrupulously defending them in their case. Ms. Miller has honed her skills and now applies all of those efforts to providing her clients with representation rising beyond all expectations.
In moving to the defense side, a decade ago, Ms. Miller applies her advocacy skills in family law, criminal, probate, and guardianship matters. With a focus on her client and what is in the best interest of their children and estate, Ms. Miller is able to provide expert advice to her clients based upon their personal circumstances, with a custom tailored plan of action for each and every case. Whether the case involves parties wishing to unwind their relationship amicably, high-net-worth, complicated business formations, or serious child related issues, Ms. Miller’s experience, both in and out of the courtroom, enables her to advocate and advise her clients in order to achieve the best result.
For her family law clients, Ms. Miller has helped countless families navigate through what is undoubtedly one of the worst times in one’s life, a divorce or custody battle. Ms. Miller’s tenacious style separates her from other legal advocates, while knowledge and experience helps her clients to understand what fights are worth undertaking and where peaceful resolution can be achieved.
Ms. Miller is also a mediator, Amicus/Ad litem, a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Young Lawyers Association, Aggie Bar Association, Phi Delta Phi and the American Bar Association.
